The holiday season is upon us, and for many people that means more online shopping. It also means more online-shopping scams.

In total, U.S. consumers are expected to spend about $1.9 trillion in November and December, according to the National Retail Federation. The majority of that will be done online—about 63% of total holiday spending, according to research by consulting firm Deloitte.
